Thank you! I’m close to finishing the second draft of my historical novel and every tough moment was worth it! I also said this to myself as I hiked the Kerry Way (loved the reference to the Wild Atlantic Way :)

Isn't it funny? No matter how many times we do this, it always comes back to this one thing. Finishing. It doesn't matter how many times we've finished before. We still have to finish again. As odd as it might sound, I find that very comforting because it gives me something I can control.

I am on the second round of edits for my agent, so this post was especially inspiring. Success = Finishing. I need to post it on the refrigerator.

Oh girl. I have it written on a sticky note stuck to the wall above my desk. I literally wander around most days muttering, "It's fine. It's fine. I can finish. I've finished before. Success equals finishing." This is the only way.

"And isn’t that the only real way to know if we have succeeded at anything? Finish. That’s it. That’s the secret." If writing is a metaphor for life itself (beginning - life's adventures - ending), then finishing STRONG is a wonderful aspiration! A wonderful reminder, Ariel!

Saved reading this piece for this week — because it was my birthday, last, and honestly I just knew it was gonna be the gentlest, simplest kick in the pants and I wasn’t ready yet. I wish I’d made it to that Parnassus event, but you passed on the main thing I’d have likely taken from it, so thank you!!
